Germany could lose tax-free crypto policy under new ruling coalition

Germany’s Social Democratic Party suggested scrapping the tax-free crypto-holding policy during coalition negotiations.

In protest at the German government, one Bitcoin user sent an inscription that read ‘STEUERN SIND RAUB’ or ‘TAXES ARE ROBBERY.’

German MP Joana Cotar criticized her government for failing to keep bitcoin before revealing she holds the crypto as part of her portfolio.

German authorities focused on two men who allegedly ran “pirated copy portals” under the name Movie2K and used the profits to buy bitcoin.

It’s a ‘nein’ for Germany and several European countries, as regulation begins to catch up to the controversial crypto exchange.
