RFK Jr. proclaims his love of Bitcoin in a talk with Cardano founder

Crypto Twitter is currently debating whether RFK Jr. suffered his own on-air ‘Biden’ moment or took a thinly-veiled shot at Cardano when he signed off his interview with Charles Hoskinson by saying “I love the Bitcoin community.”

The pair met virtually last Saturday to discuss all things politics and crypto as campaigns continue to ramp up ahead of November’s presidential elections.

All was going well until RFK signed off by saying, “I love the Bitcoin community, and I’m going to light it on fire when I get in there [The Whitehouse],” before the room fell silent.

Hoskinson launched Cardano in September 2017 after splitting from the Ethereum team. His plan was to create a decentralized blockchain that would rival Ethereum.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is the world’s leading decentralized cryptocurrency and has been the focal point for many Republicans looking to court crypto voters. Indeed, RFK spoke at the Nashville 2024 Bitcoin conference where he promised, if elected, that he would order the Federal Reserve to buy 4 million BTC.

The Hoskinson interview drew considerable criticism ahead of its broadcast with many complaining that RFK shouldn’t be talking to a “scammer.”

Others, however, praised his interaction with the Cardano community, with some calling “bitcoin maxis” in the comment section sad.

Not only did the Cardano community have to endure the Bitcoin promotion — accidental or not — but Cardano has now also fallen out of the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap.
