Bitcoin nears $40K, setting 14 price records in 23 days

Bitcoin broke $39,000 on Thursday to set another all-time high — its 14th price record in 23 days.

This put BTC up more than 90% since 2017’s top of $20,089, a record that stood for three years until it was beaten in mid-December.

The original cryptocurrency has nearly quintupled since this time last year, boosting its market value beyond $725 billion.

Demand for crypto has even caused major supply issues for ASIC miners and graphics cards, as fans rush to generate their own coins — with Bitmain reportedly all sold out of chipsets until August.
