Robinhood’s crypto hiring spree is real — 8 open jobs including CFO

Robinhood is looking to hire 8 different candidates with experience specific to crypto, including CFO.

Trading app Robinhood now has eight active job listings for roles specific to cryptocurrency, including a CFO position.

Robinhood posted its latest crypto-focused job on Monday: a “Crypto Operations Specialist” to help the app’s digital asset order books run smoothly.

The specialist will need to execute behind-the-scenes actions for Robinhood’s crypto traders, “such as implementing or lifting trading restrictions” and “selling out customers’ crypto on their request when they are unable to.”

Another opening at the Menlo Park firm for a “Senior Software Engineer” requests candidates with extensive knowledge of blockchains and cryptography, and notes experience with Ethereum’s programming language Solidity as a bonus.

In a ‘Fireside chat’ posted last Thursday, Robinhood chief exec Vlad Tenev promised “huge investment” in the company’s crypto infrastructure and said he’s “hiring a ton of people” to help improve the service.

Robinhood users can’t deposit their own crypto… yet

Last month, the company tweeted plans to introduce deposits and withdrawals to crypto wallets, however gave no timeframe for the rollout.

At present, Robinhood users can only deposit fiat currencies to the app, which they can then use to purchase a handful of digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin.

But whether these efforts will be enough to assuage spurned investors and critics alike is another story, with Robinhood now facing a federal lawsuit over its handling of the GameStop mania earlier this year.

As for what Robinhood demands of its new “Crypto CFO”: 15-plus years of experience in finance, “demonstrated leadership experience in the crypto space,” and an “ability to get things done and be comfortable with ambiguity.”

Robinhood has so far received 118 applications for the role.
